The Big Rapids Public Library was unique in my experience as we were all given a specific material to work with, in my case, steel. For the project, I focused on the materiality of steel and its versatility. This project showcases steel, structurally and decoratively, utilizing a large Warren truss as a focal point as well as, using it as a finish with a metal screen and metal panels. This project was done with the intent to provide spaces that are typically seen in a library while also giving the library some aspects of a community center.
