Optimization Contest for Airplane Landing Gear Door Lever

One of my teacher gave us an optimization project for lightweighting an aeronautics part, given in a previous design contest. When I tackled this challenge, I immediately went to see the contest winner's part weight and tried to beat it (even though the contest was over). I successfully reached my objective by achieving an incredible 65% weight reduction and the part was still resisting the load cases properly.
