Description:
The device has to be no more than 2.5" in diameter - it needs to fit in a cup. It will be 3D printed, and then plastic mold manufactured.
The device needs to support 100g of weight, not tip over, and stay afloat.
Specifically, the 100g weight will be no larger with a 2" diameter, and can be as small as .25" in diameter. I envision 3 adjustable, horizontal poles that are attached in the inside walls of the device, that can move vertically up/down, depending on the weight of the seed, and in/out, depending on the size of the seed.
Lastly, there needs to be a hole that is no smaller than .5 inches, at the bottom of the device so water can get through.
Ideally, I would like to see buoyancy / fluid simulations of this in action, to ensure it meets the above criteria. Any other questions, please let me know.
Wants:
I would like the model in STL or OBJ format.
Software:
- Any program.
Additional Information
I did not make this clear, per my initial description. I would need a .5" diameter hole at the bottom to float device, not only for the water to get through, but also for the roots of the seed to get through, while it continues to sprout. Please see added attachments.Additionally, the way that I envisioned the seed would stay at the appropriate level, is by having 3 adjustable horizontal poles in the inside wall of the device. Please see image attached, and also see my other project here on cadcrowd: Simple extendable / telescoping mini pole, for a reference of these horizontal poles.
I have received many great designs. I am extending this project for one more week to reply to a few more designers before I make my decision. Thank you all very much for your talent and effort on this. It is very much appreciated.

Hello there Stavro,
You mentioned in your description that the seed size could vary from ~2" to ~0.25", and that you would like the height of the seed support adjustable. I would assume that this is because there is some ideal water level for a seed to sprout (i.e. 1/4 submerged or 1/2 submerged?). Could you provide some info on where you would like the water line to sit? I would like to see if I can make a passive design (i.e. one piece with no moving parts) to accommodate the range of seed sizes and weights.
Also I would suggest that asking for fluid simulations is probably unnecessary. Some static calculations should certainly suffice to show that the design will be stable and support the required weight.
Cheers
Aaron

Buyer, can we get some "star" feedback or anything from you regarding our designs?

Submitted! Thanks for the fun contest!

Can you please kindly further describe below

flower pot
A plywood flowerpot using the capabilities of CNC. Many people enjoy container gardening, but the price and wintertime storage concerns mean they use a pot that is too small. I want a plywood pot that snaps together. 4 sides, a bottom, and a lip around the top. Design should be scaleable from 1 o 15 gallon. I am thinking interlocking edges and wedges to hold on a double thickness lip and bottom. Alternatively, whole thing could be held together with wedges. Open to all ideas. Bottom should be recessed from actual bottom so it can sit on a stand. stand included in design. Construction would be of 1/4 inch luann (doorskin) plywood. Comes in a 4 by 8 foot sheet. Pot would be cut out on a shopbot type machine.
wallet clip for keys/key fob/cash&CC/ headphones
As seen in the sketchup images, this rectangular clip functions as a wallet and clips onto the opening of a front pants pocket (an example is shown in photo's). I need YOUR help in finding an ergonomic & functional solution to securing a car key FOB to the clip as well as sourcing pro CAD files that can be sent to a CNC machining facility.
Knee-based Travel Mug Holder - New Product Design / Prototype
Commuters on buses and trains don't have cup holders, and so they are left with the balancing act of holding their travel mug in one hand, while trying read the paper or work on their laptops with their other hand. This sucks, causes spills, and is super uncomfortable. Commuters need something that's compact and foldable that can then open and attach comfortably to their knee (or another body part?) that will securely hold travel mugs of different sizes.
Replicate Macbook Pro Cover
We are looking for someone to help us replicate a shell case for a MacBook Pro in a CAD format drawing that will function and fit the desired measurements. Our goal is to be able to take this design to a manufacturer for building. This case will include two parts: a top and a bottom. These parts need to be able to be built separately.
Please see attached PDF for measurements
This design should also be flexible enough to be adjustable so we can fit both the 15” and the 13” models. These models will be first produced in a CNC environment so the file must work within those constraints.
The design should not include the bottom leg pads.
The case we are looking to replicate is http://www.amazon.com/Speck-Products-SeeThru-Raspberry-SPK-A1498/dp/B00937DOEK
We have most of the measurements but a second look would help.
Wants: someone who either has a mac or can get their hands on one to see the coverture on the top and bottom case. Something that will actually can be produced.
Main focus is on the 15" model case.
Extra: additional Money can be earned if also completing the older version of the macbook pro case. also included in the PDF. 2012 version. $50.
Hearing Aid Sport Accessory
Hi
I have a small product that I need designed and built in Solidworks (2014). The product is a sports accessory for a hearing aid that is roughly around 35mm x 45 mm in size. The product will be a silicone mould that slips onto the hearing aid and hooks around the ear, similar to how sports headphones have hooks around the ear to stop them falling it out when running. I have a 3D model of the hearing aid that I can provide you with (available in the following formats: .3DS, .OBJ, .WRL) that can be used as a reference. I haven’t worked out precise measurements, which is what I will need the designer to work out. I have a budget of around 160 USD for this particular project and the deadline would be 10th March 17. If it goes well I will also seek additional work, as I need more models creating. I have attached some rough sketches of the concept.
Please let me know if you have any questions,
Many thanks,
Jay
