I just came up with a pretty sick idea to encase a lighter in a 3D printed steel case with an embedded Tritium vial and attachment for a necklace chain.
If this isn't an interesting project, I don't know what is! Hopefully there will be a lot of submissions showing a variety of styles.
View the following links for design inspiration, I would like this case to be very detailed and perhaps have a design element that is only possible with the 3D printer.

The steel material has design requirements lined out here in detail by Shapeways: www.shapeways.com/materials/steel
3 possible themes for this are cannabis, futuristic or abstract/geometric.
The price of the print depends on the volume of material used, Shapeways has some tips on making the print more economical; www.shapeways.com/tutorials/design_for_cheaper_3d_printing
I'm not entirely sure how many Tritium vials or what size. Experiment, but don't go too crazy, in the end the most I'll pay for the necklace is $500 total for 3D print/chain/Tritium, here's the sizes/prices/colors;
Cylindrical:
0.95 x 3.0mm - $4.68 (Green)
1.4 x 3.5mm - $5.20 (Green)
1.5 x 6.0mm - $7.28 (Yellow, red, purple, white, green, ice blue, blue, orange, pink)
2.0 x 6.0mm - $8.84 (Yellow, red, purple, white, green, ice blue, blue)
2.0 x 12.0mm - $10.40 (Yellow, red, purple, white, green, ice blue, blue, orange, pink
3.0 x 22.5mm - $14.04 (Yellow, red, purple, white green, ice blue, blue, orange ,pink)
3.0 x 25.0mm - $15.08 (Green, ice-blue, blue)

Thanks for your work guys. I don&;t require the files for your projects if you don&;t wish. Just thanking you for your work.

Shapeways verified file too, thanks for your work.

These are all in consideration so far.
I&;ve asked a few designers to create an account on shapeways.com, upload their file and verify it has a green check mark for initial print as well as no thin wall issues for any of the plastic or alloy material options presented after uploading.
Please do this for all future submissions as I had to ask a designer of a previous project to fix something that seemed minor, but required the entire model to be rebuilt because of it. Save time and energy by verifying your parts will print before submitting!
Thanks, my brother and I are impressed with the skills available through this site time and time again. Keep it up!

Thanks and don&;t be afraid to try some more styles. We will decide how many to buy later during the contest, probably 3-5 total designs.

Amazing use of the Tritium sticks there, let&;s see some stuff like that in this lighter case!

No logos for this one as it&;s a one-off piece more for the wardrobe. Can&;t sell Tritium in the states without legal hassles, which kind of helps with the hype of it at parties.
Thanks!

Try filling the cells with more geometry. That would look sweet casting shadows in photos for ads.
Another feature for this case that would be nice to see is covering the metal shroud of the lighter as well.
Thanks, I&;ll ask the tritium source if getting 60+ at a time would be a problem.

Overall I would like more texture/surface detailing. You could do some really nice subtle raised curves on the surface to keep the flow you have while getting pretty complex.
And forget what I said about price, it should be fine using a higher number of tritium vials to really make this thing GLOW! I want to grow a tumor after wearing this thing.
Thanks for your creativity on the project!

So it&;s really the design of the lighter case.
Thanks

The contest is for the case/necklace that will hold the Bic lighter and Tritium stick.
Thank you!
