I am an accomplished 18 year Tool & Die Maker with equal accomplishments in engineering spanning over an additional 15 years. Worked in the design, manufacturing and assembly of plastic injection molds and machine tooling (new and replacement parts) for companies like Lutron Electronics, Taylor Technologies, Amp Incorporated (now Tyco Electronics), Plasticert and Framatone Connectors from 1989-2003 as a toolmaker and shop supervisor eventually becoming a shop owner with 12 Ft employees. I made the transition to full-time engineering when I worked in product research and development for EdgeCraft Corporation leading the design and development of 2 new products that launched in 2003-2005. Moving closer to home I was hired at Joseph Machine Company where I was challenged with designing modular tooling for their custom SFMC manufacturing machines. This led to a 15% reduction in manufacturing costs and a 30% reduction in design time. I was the lead engineer for the launch of the Quad Head Sash Cleaner in 2006. I took a job in 2007 as an engineer at Manitowoc Cranes in Shady Grove Pa. I was initially a production support engineer eventually working my way into the structures group working on new products and assisted, as needed, in the custom application department where we would design and deliver many different types of customized units per customer specific requirements. When I left after my 10 year tenure I had led an engineering team of 30+ engineers on the launch of 2 new products released to market and was the lead engineer on major custom applications (500+ hour efforts) on over 20 custom machines, many leading to new option offerings on standard products. New products launched include the GCD09 and GCD15. The NTC55 was a new product launched from the result of a special custom application for Stevenson Crane in Harrisburg Pa. Customizations I was in charge of included the entire Industrial Line, most of the National Crane product line and small Grove RT units. After a 3 year stint at HydroWorx International I decided it was time to relaunch my own business and opened All Points Design where I offer mechanical engineering and design services on many types of products.

Results showed improved composite material properties achieved by chemist's formulas. Designed, manufactured and operated testing apparatus within ASTM specifications for collecting particulate emissions from catalytic wood stove designs. The results favorably compared new catalyst formulas to competing market products. Organized and managed the facility installation of a pneumatically operated, industrial distillation unit for solvent recovery for composite recycling process plant. Unit was successful, and safely operated. Designed and built structural support and developed operating procedures for a prototype 300 gallon acid digestion composite materials recycling reactor. The reactor is still operating and providing data for composite recycling research to this day. Analyzed the feasibility and implemented the re-purposing a salvaged reactor into a medium sized vacuum testing chamber for experiments with inflatable, foam injected, rigidizable-on-command space structures. Operated, collected data, and designed modifications to a large-scale gasification type tertiary recycling prototype plant. Improved critical heat exchanger designs. Designed, built and operated an experimental drop through plasma treatment chamber for etching surfaces of graphite flakes and carbon nanotubes for use in advanced composite material research. Created a synchronized jack screw system for rapidly opening heat treatment ovens to facilitate faster re-threading and increase production of line involved in composite fiber finish application and powdered tow pre-impregnation. Developed servo controlled gate valves for a feedback control method utilizing laser interferometers for controlling powder flow deposition onto composite fibers. Contributed to the scientific and technical innovation with mechanical test results and visual diagrams and pictures, approved for publication as a NASA Tech Brief, entitled Light Curing Structural Repair Tape for In-Space Repair. My name is Chi-tai (Terry). I was born and raised in Taipei City. I have been working as an Industrial Designer for about eight years. My last job was an in-house designer for Master & Dynamic, a headphone and speaker brand, based in New York City with manufacturing plants in Shenzhen, China. I worked with team members from Australia, Sweden, and New York in an international base design team that directly reported to the CEO, Jonathan, of New Audio LLC. I also worked with onsite PM, ME, EE, and the Acoustic Expert during the times when I lived in China. For my job, I had to regularly fly between Taiwan, Shenzhen, Shanghai, and Guangzhou to push projects forward. I’m always fascinated by beautiful products and modern designs in various fields. Instead of expanding an idea just on paper or 3D software, I’d like to take more time to do the design research, market survey, and then discuss it with other people from different fields. Furthermore, I like to study the physical characteristics of the materials. Design is not just about beautiful curves and shapes. It’s also about problem-solving with the material and mechanical? I am a freelance SolidWorks expert and design engineer specializing in converting ideas and models into 3D. From this I am able to create photo realistic visualizations, technical drawings and prepare parts for production. I have experience with injection molding, design for manufacture and design for prototyping and assembly. My experience has resulted in cost efficient designs for varying sized items and varying sized projects. Have lead global innovation projects for multi national companies, however no job is too small. Furthermore I am able to create prototypes for visualization and for testing purposes. This combined with tooling contacts allows me to take a model from 2D or initial concept through to a production ready state, or production if required. My prototyping experience is with rapid prototyping, 3D printing to create highly accurate and realistic models. Prototypes can also be rapid machined from Acetyl or polypropylene amongst other materials and rapid tooled, injection molded or vacuum formed/cast parts can also be created prior to tooling for production.
