Mechanical Design Engineer reporting to our engineering manager
Job Overview
This position is responsible for creating drawings and specifications and performing calculations to design precision equipment to meet the customers’ expectations, timelines, and requirements in the food processing industry. To be considered for this role, you must have experience in the manufacturing industry and a solid understanding of industrial machining and metal fabrication & welding practices.
Responsibilities
• Responsible for designing a complete project, system, component, and/or individual piece of custom equipment from concept to manufacturing, including assembly and testing.
• Ability to reverse engineer parts or new parts as replacement for existing equipment and newly designed equipment.
• Generate bill of materials and drawings for manufacturing.
• Continuous improvement mindset and openness to design idea modifications to meet customer requests.
• Provide technical support to the specifications of customer requests.

• Design engineering utilizing SolidWorks to generate concept drawings, approval drawings, solid models, and a complete set of part and assembly drawings for fabrication and production.
• Ability to write technical manuals and create part lists, exploded views, assembly directions, and renderings.
• Present design projects to peers or other Stone personnel for design review.
• Collaborate with machining, fabrication, and assembly to troubleshoot and innovate for future projects.
• Evaluate equipment and manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with food safety standards.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience in an equipment manufacturing environment.
• Exceptional organizational and time-management abilities, with attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including strong listening skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects of all sizes simultaneously and work independently.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
• Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and evolving work environment.
