Hi, I'm Cillian McCay and I am a Part-Time Student at Ulster University studying Mechatronic Engineering while working Full-Time at Sepha. I've a Foundation Degree in Mechatronic Engineering while working towards a Full Degree. While doing this I have been working full time which has gave me the opportunities to gain and improve my skills in Solidworks and Solid edge. it has also allowed me to gain an insight into the Industry over the past 4 years. in these 4 years I have worked on small to big projects ranging at lowest £25,000 to highest £190,000. for these projects I was in control of; • review plans and specifications according to the plan. • Manage to oversee the work of subordinate staff contact architects or Engineers. • Prepare plans, details, specified and cost estimated of plumbing, heating, ventilating, air conditioning and general piping system. I have also worked on product design which I currently do at Sepha for innovation and development of specialised, high quality equipment for use in the manufacture of pharmaceutical blister packs, medical device and healthcare products.

I am the director of Mechanika Ltd (www.mechanika-ltd.com) and a consultant Stress Engineer. I have solid all-round engineering ability and I am a SQEP calculation checker/signatory and calculation author. I have held stress signatory status for 8 years, whilst substantiating high integrity, safety critical equipment and structures. I can apply my expertise to metallic, polymer or composite structures and mechanisms in any industry. I have primary interests in remote handling, precision medical devices, fluidics, mechanism design, complex structures and heavy lifting equipment. I enjoy all areas of design; with specific expertise in mechanisms, traditional static and dynamic hand calculations, seismic assessment, FEA, classical mechanics on mechanisms and structures, fatigue and failure investigations and injection moulded product design. I am a good communicator and enjoy presenting to stake-holders. I am an expert user of ANSYS Workbench, RFEM/RSTAB, Solidworks and MathCAD with licenses for all of the aforementioned software. Throughout the past 10 years I have been involved quite extensively with multiple different CAD Packages. Starting with Pro-desktop during my College years and then moving onto projects using Creo-parametric, Autodesk 2D and 3D as well as Solidworks. Because I have been immersed in Computer Aided Design for such a large percentage of my adult life, I have developed a extensive knowledge of the medium as well as being able to adapt to new programs and method comfortably. 6+ Years of Pro-desktop experience throughout Senior school. Includes GCSE and A-level design projects as well as multiple shorter projects. Received an Arkwright Scholarship for Engineering potential, CAD proficiency was required in the examination phase. Self taught Creo Parametric for a 2 month concept design contract to develop a medical device patent. 3+ Years of AutoCAD and Solidworks at University where 4 hours a week was spent on a dedicated CAD course.
