My Outlook: Every product design project starts out as puzzle made up of semi-opaque pieces. The pieces… market analysis, competitive analysis, price points, innovation, differentiation, aesthetics, concinnity, function, ergonomics, materials, manufacturing processes, packaging, costs, users, and clients. These and other considerations assemble into a design language that makes your product unique, pertinent, and targeted in the marketplace… a tangible object of desire and promise... a picture that makes sense. Every product wants to be something… to be desired and realize its potential, in many ways and from many perspectives. I strive to stimulate desires and extract potential… solve the puzzle. Through close collaboration, we came up with a design that practices concinnity with the existing monitors, introduces innovative solutions, targets the consumer market, and enhances brand recognition. I am a mechanical engineer with over 10 years of product development experience spread across medical, industrial, and consumer products. I have made the most of every opportunity to study under expert craftsmen, inventors, product designers, doctors, and engineers to hone his ability to bring increasingly more complex new products to reality. This includes working with some of the foremost physicians tackling difficult challenges in current and next generation LVADs, artificial hearts, blood pumps, and other highly complex class III medical devices. Products I have designed and built are in Times Square, the Disney Parks, the Smithsonian, and implanted in people around the world. To date, I am named as inventor on a half dozen granted and pending patents, including core technologies in products for companies such as Baxa (now Baxter), Thoratec (now Abbott), and Covidien (now Abbott). I started my engineering training with a B.S. Engineering Degree, with a Mechanical Specialty from the Colorado School of Mines. I ontinue my education by working with many Industry & Trade Associations, University Programs, Business Groups and start-up Incubators. I also regularly attend major conferences, training programs, and other industry events in design and related fields including simulation & medical conferences specific to class III active implantable devices and blood pumps. My passion is to improve the world by blending user-focused design, tenacity, and old-world craftsmanship with an intimate understanding of the latest technologies.
