Project Overview
This project aims to design a robust and aesthetically pleasing outdoor flying insect repellent device. The device will use advanced nebulization technology to distribute a carefully formulated blend of essential oils, effectively creating an insect-free outdoor perimeter. The product is a rechargeable device designed to create a 30-meter outdoor protection zone against mosquitoes. It's intended as an alternative to traditional methods like sprays, candles, or zappers, offering a flame-free solution for outdoor environments.

Product Functionality
The device functions by nebulizing a proprietary blend of essential oils that naturally deter flying insects, such as mosquitoes. It should create a continuous protective zone around outdoor areas without toxic chemicals, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for users. The product should feature a compact, stable, and portable design, making it suitable for various outdoor settings such as patios, poolside areas, and camping sites. It employs a rechargeable lithium-ion battery that provides 10+ hours of continuous operation on a single charge. The device utilizes a repellent cartridge system in the form of a screw in a 100 ml bottle, with each bottle offering up to 60 hours of mosquito protection. The repellent is diffused into the air, creating a zone that deters mosquitoes without the need for sprays or open flames. The device should have an integrated light illuminating option to brighten the surrounding area. The device should be waterproof against rain (IP 67).

Dimensions: Approximately 15 x 15 x 15 cm in a pyramidal shape.
Essential Oil container size: The Nebulizer cap and the 100ml bottle will be 13 cm tall, the cap is 6 x 6 cm at its widest point and the bottle is 4.5 x 4.5 cm and will insert from the top (See attached files)
Power Source: Rechargeable battery capable of providing at least 10 hours of continuous operation on a single charge. Include a USB-C plug at the back for recharging.
Operational Components: Include nebulizer mechanism, battery compartment, secure essential oil reservoir where the essential oil container will be, intuitive control interface, and indicator lights.
Ergonomics and Portability: Ensuring the device is easy to carry and operate, with a form factor that complements outdoor environments. Should be designed so it can’t be knocked over, which can compromise the device by having the oils spill.
Battery Integration: Designing the housing to accommodate the rechargeable battery securely while allowing for efficient charging and replacement.
Diffusion Mechanism: Doesn’t need to be designed.
Material Selection: Choosing durable, weather-resistant materials suitable for outdoor use, while maintaining a sleek and modern aesthetic.
Intuitive User Interface: Incorporating intuitive controls and indicators for power status (output increases or decreases), battery life, and cartridge replacement alerts. There should be settings for increasing the power of the output and also to independently affect the light brightness up and down, and on/off.
Night Light Integration: The design should have an integrated light which can be turned on and off depending on whether the user wants to use it to illuminate their area.
Certification Requirements
The device must meet all relevant certifications and safety standards required for rechargeable battery-operated nebulizing devices, including battery safety and consumer electronics standards E.g. Compliant with UL and FCC safety standards.

Grill Insert Upgrade – Concealed Fastening & Structural Reinforcement
Overview:
We are seeking a freelance designer to revise a plastic grill insert intended to mount into a steel bull bar. The current design suffers from poor structural rigidity and, most critically, lacks a viable fastening method along the front edge—resulting in visible warpage and an insecure fit during test fitting.
Key Issue – Front Fastening:
There is no existing mechanism to pull the leading edge of the plastic insert tightly against the steel bull bar. The final solution must incorporate a hidden front-facing fastening system (e.g. automotive-style panel moulding retainers or equivalent) that ensures a flush, secure, and rattle-free fit under vibration and load.
Fastening Method Requirements:
Must be entirely concealed once installed (no visible clips, screws, or fasteners from the front)
Must provide positive retention to pull the plastic insert snug against the steel surface
Should allow serviceability (removal and reinstallation without damage)
Steel Bar Interface:
You are not limited by the existing return surfaces of the steel bull bar. The CAD file of the opening will be provided, and you may propose modifications to any return edge or mounting surface behind the grill insert. Nothing behind the visible face is fixed—it can be adjusted to suit your fastening solution.
