After graduating high school, I joined the United States Air Force specializing in Explosive Ordnance Disposal which falls under the domain Civil Engineering and I obtained an associates degree based on my position. After completing six years of service to the Air Force, I followed my passion for helping people into the field of nursing where I obtained a bachelors degree from the University of Nevada Reno (UNR). While at UNR, I spent many hours in the engineering building honing my CAD skills and furthered my skills by acquiring a student license to practice with at home until I decided I was good enough to buy a commercial product license. I have spent the last 4 years working as a consultant doing both medical device product design as well as designing automated assembly and test equipment. For the medical device design, a major portion of the work involved identifying and qualifying manufacturing partners that would be used and then implementing manufacturing procedures and processes as required. I would work with the vendors to identify cost effective plans for startup manufacturing and develop prototypes that allowed us to verify design intent as well as test and verify production methods and procedures. I also worked with the vendors to establish a longer term ramp plan as quantities to be produced increase.
