Dominic Spooner is an industrial designer and founder of Ember Design House. Dominic has over ten years’ experience in the design and manufacture of products for military, commercial and consumer industries. Dominic commenced his career designing satellites. He designed and managed the development of a satellite for use in disaster response; a world first in satellite design and application. From designing satellites he moved to the design and mass manufacture of consumer products ranging from electronics and wearables to electric vehicles and energy storage. Dominic traveled extensively to Asia to manage the successful manufacture of products and today maintains a network of prototyping and manufacturing suppliers in China and Taiwan. Throughout my professional experiences I have developed strong expertise in 3D modelling (drafting), rapid prototyping (3D printing) and tooling / building new designs. I have extensive experience in drafting 3D models from spoken ideas in the office environment, which are then used in communication and negotiation strategies with stakeholders. I have often rendered 3D models to photorealistic quality (Blender and Fusion 360 software) and been able to utilise my visual design expertise to further modify the resulting 2D images (Photoshop and GIMP).
