I am a 3D designer and lead environment artist with over 13 years of experience in the fields of design, art, and game development; also, I'm a founder of my own design company with hundreds of jobs done.
Years ago, I started as a web designer, then self-learned and worked in the fields of graphic design, interaction design, UI/UX design, and finally, game design and, as a part of it, 3D modeling and environment art.
As a lead environment artist, I create full 3D scenes, including hundreds of models, terrain, lighting, particle effects, and weather simulation if necessary. While I create important scene materials myself, I make sure all models, materials, and textures produced by other designers correspond to the quality and fit into the style of the project, whatever it be realistic or art stylized.
As I have experience of making games on Unity engine since 2011, I cover many typical performance issues and make sure all models produced by 3D artists correspond to target platforms by the number of polygons, texture sets, and resolutions. I also cover such performance aspects as correct usage of baked, mixed and realtime lights, light and reflection probes, occlusion culling, and LOD groups, which is most critical for VR and mobile platforms. More I can create particle effects, e.g., fire, liquids, volume clouds, fog, shoots, explosions, smoke, and do some proper performance optimizations for target platforms.
Of course, I can create 3D models and paint them myself, modify any model, retopologize, rig, UV-map, set up colliders, cloth, and even animate a model. I love all of it.
