Caster maintains a wheel in alignment with the direction of travel, and this alignment can be accomplished by either caster displacement or a caster angle. Caster displacement pushes the steering axis forward from the axis of wheel rotation, as in the case of a shopping cart's front wheels. Caster angle pushes the steering axis out of the vertical position.
