Senior Design Project (2016): Solar-Powered Golf Cart Roof Structure

A small team of California State University Sacramento engineering students were tasked with the goal of converting the roof structure of a golf cart to house solar panels. The intent of the project is to use the mounted panels as a source of supplemental charge for the batteries, and to prolong the operation time of the golf cart. The roof structure will be constructed from 6061 square tubing, and fully TIG welded together. In short, the use of aluminum tubing is considered not only for weight considerations, but also used for the material's resistance to oxidation.
