I would like to thank every single one of you for all your hard work and patience.
It was a pleasure to get to experience the commitment and talent all of you displayed.
I know some of you wanted a bit more time. Due to a time constraint and the amount of participants I had to cut it short.
There were more impressive designs I would have wanted to give a prize to but I&;m on a tight budged.
I will certainly keep many you as contacts - by invite only - for any future projects.
Feel free to contact me for any additional questions, suggestions and even criticism.
At this point it can be only a concept, although funtionality should be kept in mind. Once I have a winner, I&;ll be working with him/her on a manufacturable prototype.
Also, a quick headsup: This contest will end 1 week early - the 30th.
It might be better to pay attention about existing patents of folding bikes. I have seen some folding concepts used here are patented (Priority date 1999 Aug). So this means you can&;t use the same idea without paying to the original patent holder within 20 years of its validity period.
Thanks for the input.
To answer your question, since this is still a relatively early stage in the contest, I&;m more interested in a solid concept rather than a fully functional design.
In regards to the bearing for the wheels, I would certainly prefer a cost contious choice even though the scooter itself will be marketed as a higher end product within my competitors.
Please feel free to contact me anytime and good luck.
Hi Alberto Rey.
Are you looking for concept only or fully functional design also? Biggest challenge here is to find cheap and light weight bearing for the wheel. Are you prefer to use custom bearing (need long development with high cost) or want to use off the shelf bearing (for lower development cost).
Thanks,
