Description:
IN search of several unique face shields (NOT face mask) designs. Not necessarily for essential workers but rather for everyday use to go to the movies, out to eat or to a concert. Basically, something that people can be ok with wearing in public.

We are not looking for a simple face shield design that you can currently find on Amazon, Ebay or Etsy.

We are LOOKING FOR DESIGN CONCEPT AND DIGITAL SKETCH that is of your creation
To help provide some insight, attached are the submissions which we received but weren't quite good enough. You may use those to come up with alternative design inspirations. Preferably something more fashionable.

Again, please don't ask us for a concept. That is up to you. Should you feel comfortable with this project, please apply below.

We are looking to start ASAP with the right candidate
Wants:
must be a new design concept that is NOT in the attached Image examples
Don't Wants:
Concepts based off of what is already in the attached image examples

Hi. How long does it usually take to announce the result of the contest? Just curious. Thanks!

Hello Alertus,

These face shields are not for medical use. There are no medical claims. Its purely for fashion purposes. Imagine a dystopian world (sorta like hunger games)

my question is :
IF we can go out to the movies, eat in restaurant, and watch a crowded concert; THEN what is the purpose of wearing the face-shield?
As you know that up until today we have to wear it to avoid contact/ physical distancing
OR do you intend to make it as Design Element? something iconic to use as memento of this pandemic?

Hello, I assume you are looking for a shield that covers the standard splash shield regions of the face?
- Yes
Are you interesred in designs that cover a more casual region? Eyes nose mouth only?
- Yes
Is there any medical requirements or documentation that show the region you would like to protect?
- No, there just needs to be a barrier between the face and the outside of the shield
Is your design limited by any manufacturing methods? TPS vacuum? injection molding? Off the shelf hardware?
- No

On your statement of "Again, please don't ask us for a concept. That is up to you." I would like to point out that many Designers aren't Engineers and most aren't necessary Industrial Designers. A lot, if not most, products originate with concept people and/or Industrial Designers, then it's passed down to Engineers/Designers to develop it into something manufacturer. My opinion/suggestion is that concepts are very helpful for Designers, a lot of design software have functionality to bring in image files to base CAD models/designs on. A lot of Designers aren't very artistic or necessarily creative.

Hi 3DArtist

After the contest is completed, there may be additional contract work required to get these into production

Thanks

Hi Fadi,

We will be using the winning contestant's design submissions to create STEP files from which will eventually be used to create the product. The product doesn't need to be 3D print ready and the material can be anything of your choosing. Hope that helps. Thank you

One question: is it for 3D printing or is there a specific material ?

Create Ten Custom Glasses
Submit 10 OnShape assembly files (each pair of glasses must have a unique front part but should have the same arms) Each one should be a different style (See attached photos for styes.) (1)Aviator (1)Cat eye (2)Oval (2)Round (2)Square (1)Kids (1)Other - be creative! Submit 5 renderings of each pair with clear and dark lenses (10 renderings total) with the following views: *Head-on *45 degrees *side view *overhead *ISO) *******IMPORTANT******* This design must be easy to modify. The workflow and feature organization of the parts is as important as the final shape. The following two measurements should be driven by a single variable in OnShape: https://cad.onshape.com/help/Content/variable.htm *the width of the glasses *the bridge of the glasses These two dimensions should DRIVE the width of the frames. When the width of the frame changes its shape should scale uniformly to accommodate the change. See the attached picture for a better explanation. You can submit your glasses with dimensions anywhere in between the max and min. Just make sure the glasses still look good at the max and min sizes. (Scale all dimensions down by 20% for kids glasses) Arms and Hinges **please keep these designs the same for all of the glasses. The straight part of the arm should also be driven by a variable. Keep the curved part by the ear the same. "picture" example: ___/ will be lengthened to look like _____/ The hinge design should be based on the attached picture. However, there should be countersinks on the top and bottom of the hole to accommodate this screw with a 6mm shaft length. www.zoyeglassesparts.com/spectacle-screws-internal-thread-m-1-4-2-5mm-height-tsn-007.html Please use the "hole feature" when designing the hole and countersinks so they can be modified later if needed. These do not need to be driven by a variable. Lastly, these will be plastic hinges, the nose pads should be part of the plastic frame and do not need to be easy to edit. (see picture) Please feel free to reach out with any questions.
Product and electronic design needed for tiny wearable accessory
I'm looking for a designer knowledgeable in electronics to design the product with the smallest dimensions possible. The product is a small wearable that vibrates according to set time intervals. It can be worn as a bracelet or necklace by attaching it with a simple clasp. The user presses the button to cycle between time intervals (5,10,15,30, or 60 minutes). Haptic feedback to let user know which one was chosen. Long button press = turning off and on the product with feedback to let user know if the product is on or off Rechargeable battery with USB or coin battery depending on which one can provide smaller size. Water resistant casing. Similar product on the market: https://shop.meaningtopause.com/products/just-plain-pause-solo-capsule-for-diy-bracelet The biggest difference between this project and the existing product linked is the design (i want it to be much smaller), and the ability to change time intervals.
Design Cool Gaming Glasses
I’m making gaming glasses that block blue light. I just need a design that looks cool that is similar to my reference photos.
Sports Timing Transponder
We have designed a 2.4 GHz transponder that is used for sports timing. We require a plastic housing to be designed for this small wearable device. The PCB has a solar cell on one side and a small 40 mAh LiPo battery on the other. The transponder is used in running, cycling and Triathlon type events, so we need it to be completely waterproof, we prefer that the unit is ultrasonically welded to form a hermetically sealed product. The transponder will need to worn by runners, attached to bicycle forks, attached onto ankle straps, etc. An approach we would like to take with the design is to allow for the transponder itself to have a minimalistic design with a universal mounting option that allows for it to be attached to a separately designed Bike mount, or wrist strap. Ie: the Bike Mount would be a separate design that cable ties (zip ties) to the front fork of a bicycle, then the transponder clips onto or locks into the bike mount. This would allow for future designed mounting accessories, while keeping the transponder design standard. The design considerations include: - The housing must be completely waterproof (Hermetically sealed). We would prefer that the unit is sealed with ultrasonic welding. - We use a solar cell on the top of the PCB to charge the small LiPo battery, so there should be a transparent section in the housing to allow for light to reach the solar cell so that the LiPo remains charged. I have attached an image of the transponder as well as an STL file of the PCB Assembly. We can send further information and output files as required.
