Description:
Be a part of History! With the outbreak of Coronavirus, hand washing has become an imperative daily routine to help prevent the spread of this disease.

A 12 year old inventor and entrepreneur has formulated a revolutionary soap-like disinfectant to help curb the spread of Covid-19. Now, she is looking for an innovative bottle designer to help her design a unique bottle that compliments the new product line and provides added value and safety.

THE CHALLENGE: Design a Fresh, Original and Safer Soap Bottle for this new cutting edge product!

There are many soaps on the market – So, make your Soap Bottle Design stand out and drive sales! The design must address the growing concerns with sanitation and hygiene. This challenge focuses on creativity, originality and design.

Winner will not only receive Prize Money!!!! If your bottle is selected, as our winner you will be part of history, receiving design recognition in our extensive media campaign, including a featured video spot. (This part of the prize is optional. So, if you’re camera shy we totally get it.)

Technical Requirements :
Must hold 7.5 fl Oz (preferred size) to maximum 12 fl oz.
Not a must, but standard soap pump ‘engine’ makes it easier to reach target costs (Standard “Pump” Product file included for your consideration)
Must be able to be mass produced.
Must contemplate space for required manufacturing labels.

Entry must include:

Please submit your design entry with images, a Neutral File Format (.igs, .stp, .fbx, .obj, .x3d, etc.) and a native file format if applicable (SolidWorks, Inventor, CATIA, Creo, NX, 3ds max, etc.).

Rendering of your design preferred
2D drawings for design patent
Calculations for soap capacity
Wants:
1. End user – Operate with only one hand or minimal contact.
2. Branding – The shape/design must be distinct and recognizable on a shelf.
3. Better Design – What drives you crazy about soap pumps? Fix It!
4. Gaps in the Market – Help our resellers! Make it unique... could be price, material or a new feature. Make it easy for our sellers to sell.
5. Space – Think about how it will fit in with the rest of the products on the store shelves.
6. How is it made – What manufacturing techniques will be used? Can you reduce costs? This soap will be mass produced, so manufacturing costs matter.
7. Market Trends – Where will the market be in the next few years? Must think ahead. Times have changed and so should our soap bottles.
8. Stand out – Make your design compelling/special !
9. Environmental Impact – What is the entire environmental impact of the bottle?
10. Curb Appeal – the design should be able be used by kids and adults.
11. Clean, Slick and must scream “What’s inside is Different! Better! ” This is NOT your grandmother’s soap.
12. Product Inventor must approve the winner of the product bottle design. After submission, she will provide any design feedback to the top competing Bottle Design Finalists.
13. Feel free to contact us for more direction on our needs for the project!
Don't Wants:
We don’t want ordinary. But, we don’t want technically impossible designs. Must be able to be produced at market prices for soap bottles. If your bottle has a unique shape that requires a modified pump, the pump design must also be included. We are not scared to manufacture a great design, but it must work!
Ask for Sample:
Samples are absolutely welcome, but not required.
Company Logo:
Yes
Additional Information
**** IMPORTANT ****
UPDATE: WE HAD A FAMILY EMERGENCY AND APOLOGIZE FOR OUR NON-RESPONSIVENESS. THE FINALIST HAVE BEEN NOMINATED. WE APPRECIATE ALL THE ENTRIES!!!!

Update: we have extended the contest only to ensure the bottle manufacturer has time to work with the finalist on the requirements for consideration. Monday finalist will be contacted with additional information, as our manufacturer is currently unavailable for feedback. We are super excited to close out this contest! We had a lot of great submissions... thanks!

We are doing two bottles! Hoped for one universal bottle for kids and adults, but based on the submission (which have been adult focused) I don’t think that is going to happen.

*****The KIDS line is the first to launch. It’s called “Color Me Clean” that is our PRIORITY! *****

$$$ We will be adding more prize money based on the Design submissions! The adult submissions are great!!!!!

I’ve attached a very Very rough drawing of a bottle with a hole in it, so kids can ensure the soap gets on their palms.

The issue with is that it would require a modified pump, so we also roughed up a design using a standard pump. So your pointer finger and middle finger would wrap around it. Feel free to work with this very rough idea, too.

For the kids it’s important we have advertising space on the bottle front to add Characters, etc.
I’ve attached some of our characters, as well. Please only use them for this project. Thanks!

Landyn has started nominating finalists. The bottle manufacturer has been reached and needs additional time to review the designs for actually production requirements.

After the deadline tomorrow, we will be extending the contest communications.... but only communicating with designers that have been nominated and up for serious consideration. Great work and we appreciate the designs submitted.

Update: we are waiting for feedback from the actual bottle manufacturer. He has been out of the office this week and the office has not provided any information as to when he will return. I am going to request an alternative contact at the manufacturers office to help provide the necessary design feedback. I apologize for the delay, as I know the contest is concluding shortly.

Kid/Teen- I just want to clarify we are not looking for cute bottles. The bottle needs to be something on a grocery store shelf. Our label will dictate the cuteness.

We need a bottle that will be our brand.... it needs to be unique and have a safety component to help limit the passing of germs in some way....

The soap will have tiny beads so keep that in mind when designing the pumping part.

Think that is all for now ;)

We were trying to brand a bottle look for multiple products.. One for adults "Bluu20" and one for kids "Color Me Clean". We had hoped to use the same shape bottle for both. But, now we realizing that the submissions have been geared to custom adult designs and not mass supermarket type soap bottles.

WE ARE LAUNCHING THE KIDS SOAP FIRST. That is our priority and will be our main market for now. I uploaded some very rough photos of a bottle with a hole in it for a Child&;s hand. We love designs that are finger tip free, too. Hope that helps :)

And we will be adding Prizes to cover

It will be helpful to know color of this sanitizer. Is it allowable for bottle to be transparent.
Sat, 06 Jun 2020 19:41:26 +0000
How is this novel disinfectant used- just wet hands, squirt a little and lather it up? Or does it get rubbed like sanitizer. Also how much (volume) is used for one use. And what is its viscosity like, runny like water or thick like oil or even thicker, An exact figure if available would be appreciated. You&;re doing a splendid job, I wish you every success in the world.

This is a stationary bottle for bathroom or kitchen sink.

(But, if you come up with a unique travel bottle/dispenser for soap/sanitizer that I can use, I will add another award for that, as well. Or even a way for KIDS to carry soap/sanitizer to school discretely. Feel free to think outside the box. I&;ll add award levels if I can use the design to dispense soap/sanitizer and help keep people safe. )

Should it be carried in a bag, or this is stationary bottle for bathroom or kitchen ?

Plastic, aluminum or both. Though after speaking to the bottling manufacturer, he suggested plastics. Also open to creating a bottle with more substance/desing that has replaceable plastic cartridge filled with the soap. (Kinda like they Glade plug in Airfreshners)

Are you planning to have this in any available material, like metal (aluminum) glass or plastic? or combine?

Hi Everyone!
I&;m Landyn and I&;m the 12 year old designer ;) This is my project. I&;m excited to see all the designs!

I want everyone to know that as I looked through the designers on this site you are all so amazing. I wish I had a million dollars to pay you :) I am using my money to launch this product because it will help a lot of people. I wish I could offer you sooooooo much more.

I pray that you will consider my project because it will help people!!!! My mom was a former tv person and is going to feature the winner in all our media exposure and on our website. I just wanted everyone to know this because I really really appreciate you even considering helping with the bottle. I want to make sure you get as much as I can give to you for helping make my dream a reality.

Thank you! Landyn

Money Storage Bank Bins for Kids
Hi, I am looking for some design ideas for a money storage bank bin for kids. It's a different twist to the traditional piggy banks. I will eventually need to create a 3D CAD of this so that I can create a prototype for it. It will need to have 3 bins designated with 1) Save 2) Spend 3) Share. I envision the approx size of the container to be 5x7x2, clear, that opens up with an attached lid, and on the outside, will be a ledger where it will be used to track withdrawls and deposits. These 3 containers will then need to be placed into a larger single container. Easy for kids to open, close and carry.
Hair lifting scalp aerating design
Thank you for taking on this design challenge! We are looking to create a piece that can slide into the hair and separate it creating more airflow for scalp health and preventing hat head. Imagine a product milimeters high that slides in like a head band, ideally it would lift hair and sort it to prevent bacterial growth, sweat and flat hair. It should also be able to take on some of the weight of the hat or scarf worn so the hair wont be crushed. ( I had made a headband out of pipe cleaners and this did great to distribute the weight of my scarf and not crush my hair totally but it was not ideal and there was no breathability for the scalp as the hair just laid flat. I imagine some sort of geometric design mixed with the right material that will stay on the head without the need for too many clips. The material needs to allow for antimicrobial properties as well as breathability as it will hold the hair in place, and when hat or head covering is removed, the hair will be voluminous and not crushed or flattened. I know nothing like this exists, but the purpose of the product design is to maintain hair health health/ cleanliness and volume under coverings. Ideas that entertain for material, design, structure and air flow will be asked to prototype in a second design challenge.
Smart display screens to be placed around the house
We need your help with developing a small screen (Oled) that will be used for displaying messages and information. The small screens will be used all over the house and need to be able (with different cradles or other solutions…) to be attached to cabinets (kitchen, laundry room, garage...etc) hang on walls, and stand on flat surface such as kitchen counter, table etc. More details of what needed as follow: Screens need to be either slided into different cradles for example: * A cradle with mini suction cups so it can be attached to flat surface such as kitchen’s cabinets. (Fig. A) * A stand cradle like different smartphone cases have so it can stand on flat surface such as kitchen counter, table etc. (See Fig. B) * A cradle to be hang on walls like a small picture, or using a magnet like this https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/studioproper/wallee-m-modular-magnetic-phone-mounting-system * A cradle with electric plug so it can be plugged into an outlet (On a kitchen counter etc.) and continue functioning while being charged https://www.prong.com (See also Fig. C) Or a better and prefered solution will be a design of a screen with all of the above (or as many options as possible). Like this idea for example http://www.weaseleasel.com/, but with the above options. Or some kind of a combination with this concept https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/oona/the-oona-whatever-you-need-it-to-be?ref=card *Screen need to be able to be attached/stand/hang both vertically and horizontally
Baby Spoon
I need a baby spoon that keeps the food closed inside the spoon so that it doesn't spill or open until the baby is ready to eat. Most of the time he is not ready to swallow the food. When he is pressured into eating, he has learned to swing at the spoon and knock down the food on the spoon. This spoon mechanical design will only open open a parent pressing a button for the spoon to open.
Am I Safe to Get a Haircut
In the coming months as US businesses open up, this does not guarantee people will come. We are seeing this in some of the EU countries. The streets are still close to empty. Small one-on-one businesses need a way to “demonstrate” to their customers that they will be “safe”. When you turn it on, this “box on wheels” will make the small room “negative” with respect to the other rooms or WRT the hallway. This guarantees that anything bad in that room stays in that room. It does this because inside is a small blower. The inlet of the blower is “in the room” and the outlet of the blower goes out the window This causes the room to “go negative” WRT adjacent rooms or hallway. If you were to put a small string under the door, you would see the string being “pulled into the room”. This “box on wheels” also filters the air that passes thru it using a HEPA filter. Then a small UV lamp is trained on this HEPA filter and the UV light kills the virus.
