1) Breakaway - cats can release the clip by itself for safety reason.
2) Adjustable - pet owner can adjust the tension of collar for different sizes of pets. E.g. Higher tension for bigger cats, which makes them more difficult to release the clip themselves than kitten.
3) The design will be for small sized buckle that attaches to a 3/8" wide strap. It would be good if it can fit the smallest size to 1/8" as well. But 1/8" is a bonus feature not a must.
4) The CAD format has to be 3D print. We will test the feasibility of the design with 3D printers.
5) The design should not infringe on an existing patent.
A breakaway collar ensures if cat gets its collar stuck or caught on something that entangles it, keeps the cat safe from injury, choking or worse.
For the adjustable feature, cat owner needs to be able to easily adjust the tension (3 levels of holding strength: High tension for senior cat, middle tension for adult cat, low tension for kitten) right on the buckle. Cat owner can increase the loading tension of buckle whereas the cat can still break free if placed under too much tension.
First place will continue working with us on the design for including full buckle case design for manufacturing / mass production, and other renderings of the design along with the inside mechanism.

**REMARKS**
Due to extra time needed to be invested in 3D print some of the contestant's ideas for checking the feasibility and usability, the contest is extended for extra 10 days.
