According to auxiliary drawing I have submitted.
Could you tell me if there&;s a gap between the wooden railing and the wall tight beside it (in the middle of the stairs) in this picture? Could you tell me approximately how much gap there is? may seem arbitrary but I have a design in mind.
would you like the Barrier to be Powered or hand operated ?
Buyer
I&;d like to address some of the comments -
An intruder would be classed as someone who breaks into the house
The need is for it to be high enough to stop someone climbing over it
The material is open for discussion - as long as it can hold for 5 to 10 minutes whilst the police make there way
The environment can also be used, as long as it can fold away neatly discreetly or folded up and put away (but easy to do)
Yes I will update the dimensions once the design has been confirmed
The best place for the barrier to be will be roughly roughly the middle of the stairs, there&;s potentially a part of the drop down wall which could be utilised
You guys are the experts so I&;m really excited to see your solutions.

1) define intruder? Its not meant for kids or something.
2) you need to cover the whole access area of the stairs + stairwell. corret?
3) If its an intruder barrier, than this should be a metalic one. Correct?
4) Any restrictions on using the surrounding envinroment? (holes in walls, floor, etc)
5) could you give some actual dimensions? or after you select a design you will update the dimensions according to the actual size?

Another question, the design should be stand-alone or could be fixed to the walls?
Could you provide some dimensions of the space from the reference?
