Description:
I paid for this design with the expectation that I would use it in a plastic injection mold. However, the manufacturer I selected has told me it won't work in an injection mold. I imagine it has something to do with ear placement, but that's where you guys come in! I need to be sure it will work in an injection mold while keeping the essence of the initial design. Also, you'll notice a circle/hole in the head - that needs to remain.
Wants:
The design needs to be close to what I already have, in a file format that blender can open, that I can then send off to a manufacturer.
Don't Wants:
I probably won't pick you if you diverge too much from the design, but if you have to let your creative juices flow I won't judge. The most important thing here is that it's cute!
Software:
  1. Blender

Hello Jennifer, Did you manufacturer tell you how he is processing this for injection molding. I know one best solution. As I can see the model is symmetric from middle plane. Cutting the model into atleast 4 segments will be possible for injection molding. Later all four segments will be joined together. I can provide you injection moldable parts and 3D model of injection tools (not in the work scope, currently). Please let me know. Also are you flexible to extent the time limit ?

1. Thickness? It needs to be enough to put a small bulb into the head and straight down into the body. Really, whatever works.
2. Surface finish: Transparent plastic.
3. We want to use Polycarbonate plastic.

To make simulation...
I need to know
1.thickness of wall or solid from inside.
2.Surface finish.
3.if you need specific material

You have to rething the approach. It doesn&;t work the way you have it. The mold parting line will be in the middle, so the ears are on the way. They are too thin too. I am not sure what other people are sending to you but its not manufacturable. The space between ears have to be redesigned or sketched. I can not open a blend file, but if you send me a sketch I can work with you.

The manufacturer didn&;t tell you the exact part that will cause a problem?

Hi @jenniferm
I am suggesting uploading your blend file so that we can analyze the shape for plastic injection molding. Remodeling the whole elephant will make a deviation from your expected shape.

Also, the elephant is intended to be transparent.

@Martin Arguello this object is going to be 1.25” tall, 1.625” long. It&;s very small, and meant to be hollow. Hopefully this clears it up!

Hello Jennifer, glad to see you choose Cadcrowd to solve your design.
In a quick view of the references you give i can tell you that the manufacturer is right, there are several unmolding angle problems in the design as it is.
I will upload a quick analysis of the issues I see and give you a possible solution asap.
I have a couple of question, ¿What are the overal dimensions of the figure? I see it a little bulky for plastic injection. This process usually is used for hollow and thinner pieces.
Is possible that you are confusing injection with rotomolding or other kind of plastic former process?

Training Ball & Sci-Fi Env
I have two models that need to be made for an indie game I'm building. The first is a simple orb thing that levitates and will shoot lasers. The second is a temple training like facility. Orb: I'm creating a game that needs a sci-fi training orb that'll levitate around, and fire lasers. I've done a very crude sketch (attached) to help you understand what I'm envisioning. Temple Environment: It should feel like a wide open space that also seems a bit "sacred". I've provided another crude drawing of what I'm envisioning. I have a couple of tweaks about it though, I'd like the ceiling to be much higher and there to be pillars holding on the lights instead of them just hanging on the wall. And the windows to be about 75% of their thickness and taller.
