Automatically paused job contracts

We will automatically put your job contract on hold if an issue arises with your client’s account or a payment method. We advise you to halt work on the job contract after the job is reactivated. We will inform you when the issue is resolved, and the contract is reactivated.

Note: We cannot disclose the precise details behind the contract suspension to protect user privacy.

Next steps if your contract is paused

Take the following action if your contract is automatically paused:

  • Stop work immediately: Halt your work on the job contract. Cad Crowd’s Billing Security policy does not protect any hours logged after the contract is suspended. The policy may cover all qualified hours billed before the contract is paused.
  • Message the client: We recommend sending the client a message about your paused job contract. You can message your client with your inbox when a contract is suspended. Your proactive communication may remind the client to resolve the contract issue. Please contact our support team if the client is unresponsive, and we’ll contact the client on your behalf.

📡 Advice: Even if you have a strong working relationship with your client, we recommend avoiding work on a paused contract to ensure you’re paid for work. In most cases, clients can quickly payment related suspensions in a few minutes by updating their payment method.

Contract paused due to platform fee avoidance

Please report a client to our support team if they offer to continue a suspended contract by paying you directly without using the Cad Crowd platform. Accepting payment outside of breaches Cad Crowd’s terms of service by circumventing service fees and dramatically increases your risk of payment fraud. The only exception to working outside the platform is if your client pays the Hire Direct Program fee and you agree to get hired by a client directly.

You can find more details about circumvention rules here. Please read our article to learn more about suspensions due to the circumvention of service fees.

Your client paused an hourly job contract

Clients may pause an hourly job contract and restart the work anytime, and you can only resume work after the client has restarted the job. Typically, your client will share why your contract was paused and an expected timeline to continue their work.

You can ask your client for an update from the Chat tab in your job contract workspace or send a message from your inbox.
