Please clearly reference any if any non-original work is included with your design submission. Do not submit designs with unlicensed IP, components/designs to a client project and follow the licensed content declaration rules below.
Policy for non-original images, clip art, etc.
- Design originality: Read our design originality policy to learn more and refer to the community terms of service for full details.
- Non-original/stock components: You must clearly indicate if any parts of your design entry are not your original designs (i.e., parts taken from a CAD library, 3D textures, textures, 3D models/components taken from manufacturers, fonts, etc.).
- Licensing: Check the license for all non-original components to ensure the client can legally use the designs in their project.
- Manufactured parts/components: Reference all CAD blocks/3D models that are taken from part manufacturer websites.
- Placeholder designs: Please ensure that you declare any placeholder designs with your design entry. Any non-original images, stock 3D models or placeholder designs must be clearly mentioned when you submit your design entry to a contest. We define a placeholder design as a temporary stock image or 3D model from an online repository (ie. CAD library) that will not be used in your final design but is used by the designer to show a client what the final product could look like.
Important: Use your judgment and only submit design entries that comply with copyright and intellectual property laws. If a client is legally pursued over IP/copyright infringement, the designer may be responsible for any resulting legal fees and damages paid to a plaintiff.
Licensed content declaration rules
You need to mention any 3rd party licensed designs (i.e., licensed components, elements, textures, CAD blocks, open source, etc.) when you submit a design entry and follow policy for stock images, CAD blocks, 3D models, placeholder designs, and textures (above).
Please share the following information with the client if it relates to your design entry:
- Is your design is 100% original: Include a note if this isn’t the case and explain which components of your design aren’t original and explain the use of 3rd party designs.
- If the elements will need to be purchased by the contest holder: Explain any design elements that must be licensed or purchased by the client when you upload your design entry. Even if your design entry has components (i.e., textures/patterns) that are free for commercial use, they should still be mentioned to the client.
