Growing up in an advanced mult-axis CNC machine shop and furthering my experience with studies in International Industrial Product Design Marketing and Mechanical Engineering I bring 25 years of theory and deep experience in the hands on / real world aspects of how precision industrial, medical, food processing, commercial, aerospace and consumer product products are conceptualized, prototyped and later produced and sourced. I have substantial experience in multi-axis CNC programming for high-speed, horizontal and vertical milling centers as well as multi-axis Swiss lathes (Citizen) via Mastercam. I am very well versed in a variety of materials and have years experience programming complex, multi-surfaced components to simple components, for short run prototypes, high speed, long run production and high-confidence lights out operations. In addition I have many years experience in CAD modeling and design via Solidworks 2018 including part, assembly and prints of which I also own one seat of latest 2018 version including Solid Works Simulation and the new, very impressive Solid Works Visualize. With Visualize I have the ability to not only design full solid models and assemblies but also create incredible, rendered real world pictures and images. I have designed, prototyped, sourced and brought to market several products from the ground up in various market segments including industrial, medical, food processing and aerospace. (including sheet metal, injection molded parts and of course precision machined parts with very tight tolerances). I currently own a Okuma MB-4000H Multi-Axis Horizontal Milling Center in which I can complete advanced protoypes to high speed, long run production runs. I am very confident that my education, real world experience and upbringing in a CNC environment has given me the ability to not only boldly design and or program components and products with disruptive, world class mechanical characteristics, it has given me the hands on experience to also design within the mindset of key variables like machine-ability and optimal material selection as this directly relates to final product cost. I have deep experience in optimization of solid model product design for machining and injection molding as well. I also hold several patents within the industrial and packaging spaces. I welcome any inquiry, as someone that truly enjoys this innovative space, I take projects with the assumption as if they were my own products. I embrace deep communication and work with the latest versions of all software I am versed in, with a deep emphasis on leveraging the amazing digital world we live in. I am willing to negotiate hourly rate based on the project.

I received a BS in Sustainable Manufacturing and minor in Managing for Sustainability. The emphasis in sustainability is really something I want to pursue in my career. I believe this country needs to scale up its transition into renewable energy and I want to work for a company where that is part of their goal. I have taken classes in quality control engineering where six sigma was taught along with tools that would guarantee quality control. I have studied manufacturing operations strategy, forecasting and supply chain management, project team management and maintaining excellence, all within a safe environment. All of these skills have prepared me to lead a collaborative team to execute well planned and organized solutions in a fast paced environment. This is my second career. My first stint in industry was in IT support where I learned valuable skills in troubleshooting and customer service. I transitioned from that job into more of a programming and network monitoring roll. At that point I went back to school full time and studied computer science and manufacturing. I am versed in C++, Ruby, and Bash scripting and can navigate a Unix OS very well. I think programming skills are very important in the manufacturing industry as automation is becoming more accessible to companies that are ready to scale up to larger production rates. I have experience in programming automated Adapt pick and place robots as well as experience in designing end effectors for specific tasks. I have experience in CnC programming and have even fabricated a desktop sized CnC routing machine from scratch as one of my personal projects. This project was a lot of fun and taught me valuable lessons in fabricating, and implementing automated machine systems for daily use. It also taught me valuable project management skills in how to budget a project and maintain consistent time management while going to school full time. This project also took lots of research to complete witch is something I really enjoy.

I joined the Instituto Superior de Engenharia de Coimbra in 2008, with a degree in Mechanical Engineering (post-Bologna). Concludes, at the same institution, the Master in Mechanical Systems and Equipment in 2013, in a total of 5 years of academic career. Associativism was not left out: I joined the Orxestra Pitagórica and was a founding member of the Tuna Académica of the institution where I studied (ISECOTUNA). I was awarded two FCT Research Grants, one in 2013 which focused on the mechanical properties of composite materials, combined forces and interlaminar fracture, another in 2014 in the context of the structural integrity of aeronautical light alloys (propagation of fatigue cracks, overloads, crack closure phenomenon and its measurement by DIC – Digital Image Correlation). I was involved in the Vehicle Transformation Industry, in an ambitious project called TecLife, where I played the role of Production Engineer during a year of great growth and maturation for the company. I continued to work in the automotive area, belonging to the logistics team at Gestamp Vendas Novas, an international group dedicated to the design, development and manufacture of metallic components and assemblies for the automotive industry, with Volkswagen Autoeuropa as its main customer. Given the scope of projects in which I was involved, I acquired solid knowledge in terms of Supply Chain Management, having followed an intense period of growth in production activity, industrialization and adjudication of new projects, always following the Industry 4.0 model. I also played the role of Project Designer at SIRMAF, where I was responsible for the construction project and conversion of special robotic machines for the automotive industry. I also prepared 3D and 2D CAD, specifications, instruction manuals, risk analysis, preventive maintenance tables, etc. I also developed methods and time optimization projects at Paul Stricker, and actively participated in the training of new employees. After some accumulated experience, I continued to develop my career as a Designer Designer at Indusstock, where I was also responsible for the production department. I am currently part of the Riatrónica team, being the Mechanical Project Manager.
