The Hermetically Sealed Breast Platform (HSBP) is used for simultaneous x-ray and ultrasound imaging of breasts in the Aceso dual modality mammography system. Some features include a high precision (<27um) closed-loop drive system, ultrasonic acoustic coupling and radio-lucent composite manufacture and bonding. This work also involved the development of digital x-ray and ultrasound imaging systems.
