Our client wanted an innovative opening mechanism that would allow to open and close part of a window with one movement (it was called the "window in window" project).
First we looked for other systems of the sort, and then adapted our finds to the specifications. The end goal being a prototype, we had to make sure everything was cheap and easy to fabricate.
Finding the right solution at the start was time consuming because we needed to make sure the prototype was going to be as close as possible to the end product. There were a few tweaks at the end but nothing major.
The mechanism is currently at its 3rd prototype (by the client), and they plan on using it on their boats very soon as a first experiment.
