Description:
This is a solar powered door and window sensor, it has very specific PCB and solar cell sizing (see attached files).
The sensor itself will need concealed mounting screws and a flat back so it can be attached also using double stick tape.

It will also need a small magnet in a plastic housing (with a way to mount the magnet) This will mount to the door or window and will trigger the contact when opened or closed.

white plastic should be used for the case, this will be used in a separate application where it may be mounted on a wall without a magnet (different sensor inside) and white is needed for that application. you can use a very slightly frosted lens over the solar cell, but it can also be clear to show the glass from the solar cell. think iphone design or sleek modern looks, it's ok to consume the entire front with solar cell, or to add some space that is not solar cell.

the winner(s) shall provide final tooling drawings in an editable format to our team.
Wants:
we will look for innovative, beautiful designs that are cost effective to manufacture. this will be used in many different applications beyond doors and windows.
Don't Wants:
big bulky designs.

HI All,

Thank you for the submissions, we circulated the link through the office and everyone voted, so the results are purely a democratic method. we received 28 votes, was the winner, number 2 was second, and numbers 18 and 20 had the 3rd and 4th spot. We appreciate all the hard work and time, i&;m sorry we can&;t pick everyone.

I liked the example you posted. I haven&;t seen that product before. What I came up with for you is almost identical to this example but utilizing your existing electronic component. Was wondering why no feedback?

HI TD, this design will not suit for your PCB dimensions, can we neglect the given dimensions?

Though we have no interest in copying the competition, this one is my favorite. https://www.enocean-alliance.org/product/seco_window_contact/

Can you attach some examples that&;ll give us an idea of the aesthetics you are looking for? Reference images that let your views reach the designer. Thanks.

Hi TD,
I need some clarification. To re-iterate the requirements - You require 2 things. One is the main assembly that houses the PCB and the solar cell, second one is the assembly that houses a small magnet. So when the door opens the magnet is away from the circuit which tells you that the door is open. Is this accurate? Something like this: https://www.google.ca/search?q=door+sensor&rlz=1C1CHBF_enCA809CA809&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiY89j3moHdAhXhIzQIHapMDsMQ_AUICigB&biw=1920&bih=934#imgrc=B-EdfHm3vMre4M:

Hi, is it a wireless design?

yes, the PCB needs to remain as-is but that doesn&;t mean we can&;t have empty space inside the enclosure... if you have a very cool design with a different PCB layout then i may look at doing a new layout on the PCB...

Hi, it looks like you don&;t have a solar cell on the device, this is a fairly important part...

HI TD, do you want to keep the original PCB dimensions in the new design?

Hi Mecankiad, sorry for not being clear. the plastic piece in the supplied PCB drawings in only there to show the mechanical interface between your plastic design and the PCB/solar cell. thank you

Hi. The attached assembling has already a plastic frame holding the pcb and the solar panel. Should the new design include this plastic frame ?

How is the weather?
Looking for packaging and industrial design help for a new project. This device will mount to a wall or ceiling in a commercial building. This device enclosure will need to let air into the device to contact up to 5 individual sensors. (See Attachment for general size of components and constraints) Top wants -Max form factor of 7" wide x 4.5" tall x 1" off wall (electrical box configuration) Wall mount could be up to 2" max off wall - Attractive look for commercial office or educational buildings in landscape primarily, but also look good in portrait orientation. - Sensor Status light feature for the entire unit (easy to view, sleek, but not eyesore during general use) -Sensors need to be retained securely during shipment, but be accessible for replacement later on by unskilled labor. Other Wants: From the front look. Front Bezel attaches to Back housing for periodic sensor replacement (must be easy). Minimal Profile off wall Airflow on bottom / side surfaces Mounts to a 3-Gang electrical box (old & new work boxes & have surface mount option. Easy installation Sensors should be towards the bottom of the unit When bezel is removed, have a place to hang /store the bezel while working on sensor replacement. I/O should be easily accessible during installation. I/O should be protected if installer does not use an electrical box. Easy interface for installers for wiring & wire routing Mounts to a 3-Gang electrical box & surface mount option
Customised Mercedes Unimog Truck Design
I am looking for a Unimog U5023 truck to be visualised. See https://www.mercedes-benz-trucks.com/en_GB/models/unimog-off-road.html See attached early sketch, however, we are looking for an advance on that. The rear now needs to be enclosed to house a small office, with a door to access it from the rear. There needs to be a rack on the roof that will secure the robot (shown inside a pipe) shown in the attached; this will be craned off when needed.
Face Shield Design Contest Pt 2 - $300+ in Rewards
1. Please review the attached Face Shield Design 2. Come up with your own modified design based off of this face shield with the following requirements: - The Face Shield should be able to slide upwards/downwards and secured by some sort of earpiece designs that mechanically holds everything in place - Keep comfort in mind without adding a nose piece - Since the Face Shield is split into 2 halves, the top half must be able to slide down, the bottom half must be able to slide up and both halves must be able to slide all the way up to the hairline area (to allow full face exposure when not enclosed) 4. For submissions to be accepted, both STP and STL file formats must be attached with your design
Stanford University Baby Products Company
Hello, We are wanting to design a product to help moms put lotion on their baby's butt. This product would avoid the need for the mom's hands to get sticky. We are wanting interesting conceptual sketches & ideas. I have included a picture of a similar product. Furthermore, please watch parts of this video to see the product in use: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ih5JrnKo970. Your design can be a slight difference from the current competitor, or something radically different.
Elecyr Hybrid Energy Storage System
Our products connect directly to solar panels or the grid and store energy to provide power at a later time. They can be interconnected to form a microgrid and share the power collected among multiple systems. Our current product starts at 15kW, weighs about 700lbs and can be expanded to a megawatt. We are developing a family of lower end systems starting at 2500 watts and weighing less than 100 lbs. We're looking for a consistent, modern, clean and attractive look that will bridge the range of products and be sufficiently visually striking to help with our entire company identity. We're looking for a clean functional design that's very simple. Think iPhone and Cuisinart. We also would like to minimize tooling costs and keep the cost of the packaging as low as possible. We have a mechanical design team so we're primarily looking for a conceptual design look rather than a detailed package. I've attached a couple images of our existing power stack and a possible design for the 2.5kW 100 lb unit. 605×330×445 mm (LWH). We are also looking to do a scaled up unit at 5kW that's also portable and a more fixed unit at 8kW that is more like the large system we have now. I've attached a sketch of how that one will assemble internally. Again, we're looking for someone to bring a consistent, recognizable and unique look to the product line while staying very simple and clean.
