Description:
Hello,

I am building an escape room themed like an Indiana Jones/Tomb Raider movie or games. Think lost temple (Aztec or Egyptian) style.

If you have ever done an escape room and thought “I’d like to design a puzzle” this is the contest for you!

I am looking for Puzzle ideas, that can be printed on a 3d printer (I have a FlashForge Creator 3, so my 3d printer supports a large build volume 300*250*200mm) the puzzle can be in many parts if big is your thing!

The puzzles should be themed to the room and can use electronics/servos/sensors/switches anything I could build/control with an Arduino is fine.
internally mechanical and “puzzle” designs are also welcome.

The puzzle can be a single object or a set of objects (ie a locked object and a tablet with picture graphs as the solution/key to the puzzle.)
Let the imagination run wild!

there is the opportunity for continued consulting work for the winning designers,

I am happy to take messages of ideas and give feedback, Q/A etc

Software: As long as I can import it to Autodesk 360 and then to my printer I don't mind what software is used, flexible on this as long as I can print it!
Wants:
Please keep measurements metric
Puzzle look and feel
Time to solve, reset ability
"fun factor" "cool factor"
consistent with the theme of the room
The sturdiness of the design, pieces need to be durable and snug and able to take the expected abuse.
Don't Wants:
Nothing too simple
Software:
  1. Autodesk Fusion 360
  2. Autodesk Inventor

@siddharthd .STP files, or anything i can open in Fusion360,
while you can include the STL files, they are an older format and hard to edit so having the &;source file&; is a must. If you used a particular program that&;s totally fine I can easily get whatever program you used if needed to make any edits.
So basically, you can upload the STL and then the source file in its raw save.

hi @akshaybudhabal
not a necessity but depending on your design and your idea may be good to have so I totally understand your puzzle, happy to discuss it over messages.

Hii Michael ,
I am on it and completed 70 % of the work.
I want to know that do you want Arduino codes too?

@Rodaditya
I am more than happy for you to message me with ideas and i can give feedback/thoughts. I have two printers so I can also prototype print usually within a day or so.

okay, i got the idea behind. My doubt was that do I need to provide the STL /3d files for the internals of the common locking mechanisms like a padlock or would introducing just the outer body and mentioning about it would work.
As in would you directly print the files if it convinces you or are you open to improvement iterations once you are interested in the idea?

@Rodaditya it can be any type of puzzle you can find in an escape room.
We are trying to avoid traditional &;padlocks&; and plain combination locks we can buy from the hardware store. However, a themed combination lock would be acceptable.
The puzzle can be small or larger, have a few steps or plenty of steps and can even be part of a 1 - 3 puzzle group.

it could be a box, or something we that would be mounted on the wall, floor or cabinet etc.

Greetings of the day,
I wanted to know about your expectations from us. For example, if there is a padlock type of locking mechanism do you need us to include that too or just the puzzle box with info for the common locking mechanisms.

@MohamedBz, Please feel free to use other software, just say what it was built-in
You can always export the files so I can open them in Fusion360 anyway. I am only new at Fusion360, and I have tinkered with Solidworks too, so whatever you want to work with is good for me!

Dear contest holder,
is your project limited to AutoDesk softwar only or we can use other softwars? as for my participation I use SolidWorks 2017 and PhotoView 360, does it meet your requirements?
please to feedback as soon as possible so we can participate!
thanks for your time and consideration...

River Irt Fun Time Contest
I need No. 3 River Irt, it's livery is mid-green with yellow & black lining. Images will show you the extra stuff for detail. I want it with a 3-link coupling on the front buffer beam & back of the tender. River Irt is an 0-8-2 outside cylinder narrow gauge outline tender engine with 8-wheeled tender. I DO want this to be *aswell as the steam engine from my other contest*. To be usable on N-Scale Track and be RTR. The Scale is O-9 *7mm (O Scale) Locomotives & Rolling Stock on 9mm (N Gauge) Track, the same goes for the other contest*.
Create a Topper for the Bourbon Awarded 2023 Best Small Batch!
Hi, we need to step our packaging game as we just won the biggest prize in the world for small batch bourbon! We have an existing label that we like very much, and it has a 2D design on it that I'm providing to you in vector and .dxf What we want a talented designer to do is to turn this into a 3D model with the branches coming out at random angles around the circumference. It should look like a real tree with some leaves on it (leaves are in the vector file), but you may choose to adapt the shape to make the leaves easier to integrate into the final model. The final design must be suitable for 3D printing and/or lost wax casting. It must actually be manufacturable. Your design should be easy to scale up or down, but we're thinking a final height of 5-6cm (2 - 2.25 inches) is probably the right size. The largest outer diameter should not exceed 40mm. The base should be circular and 32.5mm and also have a ridge that can be customized with embossed printing for each release of the bourbon.
Slider/linear lock tab mechanism
I need a slider/linear tab lock mechanism design to hold a part in place when the slider tab is out. It should also be sturdy because this will be moved/swung around at a decent speed. We've explored ratchet and other mechanisms but the issue now is the little space we have for this mechanism plus they need to be 3D printable (ideally without support) with easy assembly without fixtures. There are two concepts so far but new ideas are welcome. Concept 1 - 116 155341.png is similar to a box cutter mechanism slider but the snapfits are too small to print it strong and there isn't a good print orientation for the two piece orange parts. Concept 2 - 316 + 2350.png Isn't fully flushed out with a round tab on top(needs a way to lock into the long push tab. Open to new types of mechanisms as long as it satisfies the criteria.
Bank Vault Door CAD drawing
CAD drawing of a bank vault door that will be output in 3D as foam to be part of a wall mural display. Vault door should be designed for output at a size 60”x60”x12”. Please see attached image of the look we are trying to achieve.
Russian Doll Maze Variant
Hello Designers! I am looking for a variant of the "Russian Doll Maze Puzzle" on Thingiverse. Here's a little bit about the project: I run a small home business in Utah that provides 3D printing services for the local area. Lately, we've been donating our extra machine time to making these puzzles for charity (Anti-boredom bags for children in hospital waiting rooms.) They've been a massive hit among the kids, however we've been hearing that the locking mechanism is 'unsnapping' over time while the puzzle is assembled, making them inoperable. We'd like to remedy that for the future! A few required design change specifications: 1. Cylindrical instead of Octagonal 2. The maze "Locking" mechanism needs a fix. Currently, it snaps "Up" into position, however the clicking mechanism is small and wears down, resulting in older puzzles 'locking' inside because they've come undone. We're looking for innovative solutions to solve this issue (potentially rotating sideways at the end, instead of up, to add another safety mechanic) 3. Thick bottom and outer wall for embossing names, if chosen. Needs to be strong enough for children to not break with regular usage. 4. Difficulty of maze appropriate to 8 and up age levels. Dimensions overall approximately 4" height, 2 1/2" round. 1/8" to 5/16" inner wall construction (solid).
