Description:
Create bas relief panel models to be CNC routed from MDF sheet. I will provide exact panel dimensions, sketches of the design and images to be modeled. Photos of similar examples attached.
Wants:
How faithfully the models capture the intended design and bas relief style.
Ask for Sample:
Show examples of modeling organic forms versus geometric primitives.
Software:
- SolidWorks (10-14)
Additional Information
Please see recently added info on panel dimensions and desired subjects. The panels should depict a great blue heron standing in cattails and a flying heron above.
Please see examples of herons and cattails attached.

Discussion
This product should be made by Artcam or Jdpaint software!
Buyer
Please see recently added information on panel size and desired subjects for panels. Entrants can propose alternative formats to Solidworks as long as files can be used to program 3 axis CNC router.

Tim is correct the methodology is simplified by the industry standards for routing base reliefs

Solidworks is not exactly the best software to use for this. What about a grey scale height map? The CNC software I use can import a bump map and 3D carve to a specified depth. There is free software out there that will convert the height maps into .stl files.

Easy Tool Redesign
We are redesigning an existing tool, it is a very simple tool which combines existing parts, Our focus is on portability and a modern sleek design, we require 2d and 3d tech drawings
Large 3D bookshelf backstop
Inspired by the historical visual progression of mainboards, we are looking for an innovative design to use as the back of a large shelving unit.
We are looking for a design to go in a display case. The display case will then be used as a holder for glass shelves.
Think of it almost like a glass bookshelf. Except, instead of the back being a cheap piece of board held on with tack nails like a shelf from IKEA, the back will be the design you come up with.
Dimensions:
8ft wide
3ft high
1-3in deep
The case is being used to display tech items. So we would like the design to reflect technology. Think mother board but on our scale.
The original thought was to collect old motherboards, including ram and cpus. We were then going to lay them out on a 8x3 piece of plywood and glue them.
Instead of this, we now want to get a design that a CNC machine can make.
Material used:
Wood and old metal.
The design should induce a feeling of technological progression. So from left to right the design should transition from old circuit board tech, to current tech, to possible future tech (this part is open for interpretation)
As an example, in the attached picture, the green part is what we want to replace with our 3D circuit board idea. Please note that the picture is just one from google and does not represent the actual shelf we are building The entire shelf will sit on top of a table, meaning that it will be at eye level for the average person.
Survival gear/Knife design
Working on a survival oriented product, Looking for a professional preferably with experience in the niche to finalize a design and make realistic HQ renderings of the finished product/product parts.
