My partner and I saw a problem with the amount of landfill space filled annually, and more precisely just from shoes. So we came up with the idea of designing a way of replacing the tread on the bottom of any shoe. We designed a 3D model using AutoCAD which would fit the precise specifications of the shoe we were prototyping with. We then poured a polyurethane mixture into the mold and place the shoe's sole on top of the mixture so that the polyurethane would adhere to the sole.
