Description:
***Summary/Background:***

This is a niche product for individuals in the car racing scene that is a single handed sign holder with bespoke slogans that the passenger will hold out the window after racing an opponent. Currently as per the pictures, I need something a little more than a wooden handle.

Open to any and all ideas and design types in regards to the evaluation criteria below.

Will be completing and building prototypes using a CNC mill and lathe, will require project to have STEP files or similar.
Wants:
***Evaluation Criteria:***

- Logo must be prominent on both sides of the handle.

- Must be able to fit a 6x12 sign in landscape that will have two holes at the centerpoint 0.30”/7.62 mm from the top and bottom with M6 screws. If you can design some sort of "quick detach/quick attach" method for this sign handle, you get extra points.

- Aesthetics, design and efficiency of manufacturing are priority. This is intended to be marketed to higher end clientele.

- Design must be automotive racing themed. It must have class and elegance. (Think Lamborghini or Ferrari "lines")

- Must have a hole/slot at the bottom of the handle for a wrist strap.

- Bonus points to a handle that can be manufactured without multiple parts. (Handle is one whole part, not cut into 2 or 3 pieces that need to be assembled.

- Max length of handle should be 12 inches long and no larger than 2 inches in diameter

- The lighter the handle, the better.

- Handles should have a recessed groove where sign plaques (12x6 inches, 5 mm deep) can be installed without catching on moving objects.
Don't Wants:
Do not want this to "look" cheap, even if it is "cheap"

I don't want a single piece of 1x2 aluminum bar with 2 holes at the top.
Company Logo:
Yes

Hi Jonathan,
Are you already completely satisfied with one of the sent solutions or are you still looking for the best.
Best regards!

The plaque already exists. You need to design the handle for the plaque. Plaque dimensions in last comment.

The holes are pre-existing. If you can design some sort of attachment to the plaque with the pre-existing holes that attached to the handle somehow, great. But this is a "nice to have" and not a hard requirement.

I&;m concerned more with styling and ease of manufacturing.

Sorry for asking a lot of questions, but we are trying to make it look expensive and easy to use.
You mean that we can&;t design anything on the plaque for quick attach/detach (the plaque does already exist), and it will only have a two holes for M6 screws?

@MohamedBz

For clarification:

There are two parts to this sign:
1) The handle itself
2) The Plaque with a slogan

- The plaque and the handle are attached with two screws as of right now. See the pictures attached in the contest.
- If a design or mechanical feature can be incorporated where the handle and the plaque have an attachment that allows for a quick detach/quick attach, that would be great, But this is not a hard requirement. This is a "nice to have" not a "must have".
- The Plaque is 5mm thick and needs to be recessed into the handle so that the plaque does not snag or catch anything thats attached to it. It must be streamlined.
-I&;m not concerned with the plaque as its just a 5mm thick, 6 inch x 12 inch piece of plastic. ***This size should only be the requirements for the handle for which it must *HOLD* the plaque.*** I don&;t need to have a re-design of the plaque. (Its a handle design, not a plaque design)

Hello, there is one thing i still didn&;t understand: you mentioned a groove for a sign plaque of 5mm deep,
you mean that you will print your text directly on this plaque, or you will print your text on another plaque like cars registration plaque or any sheet of metal or paper and fix it on this 5mm deep plaque?
in case it is not printed directly on this 5mm plaque, you want a quick attach/detach system on:
1-the handle and the 5mm plaque?
2-the 5mm deep plaque and the other the text is printed on sheet?
3-the handle, the 5mm plaque and the printed on sheet?
thanks for your presence, and there any other updates needed, any information would be very helpful.

The logo is to be incorporated, please check with the functionality and aesthetics of design. your feedback is important.

This is for all designers in this contest. This will be a 100% billet aluminum product with anodized coating. There will be no paint or any other methods of manufacturing or finish. Your design has to reflect the manufacturing processes otherwise it will not be able to be mass produced.

In addition, I would like to re-iterate to all designers that functionality and elegance are key in this contest. Please remember to look at the picture reference I&;ve attached to this contest summary.

If you have any questions, please feel free to post here.

For design considerations, the handle needs to be straight, with design elements.

Response to Entry :

I&;ve just submitted a "handle sample - guideline" to give you guys a rough idea of what I&;m expecting. I don&;t want it to be 1 single flat piece of aluminum that is CNC cut. This is *billet* meaning this will have dimensions, product should *not* be flat. The signs will be one piece and flat, there will be no moving parts on the sign itself. *ONLY THE HANDLE* if you can integrate it into your design.

1-you mentioned that it will be built CNC mill & lathe, did you mean for prototyping only? Or even for mass production you will use CNC lathe & mill?

The handle will be made from billet aluminum, similiar to a performance auto part. Will be using CNC to create the final product, so the design needs to reflect this as well.

2-And about the handle, do you prefer a full volume part or a shell part with 1.5mm to 2mm thickness or as you desire?

I perfer a full volume part with strength, but with weight reduction.

3-If mass production is not a CNC lathe & mill then witch of these procedures will it be:
a-Aluminum section extrusion?
b-Stamping and sheet metal folding? Can it include welding?

Production will be CNC mill and/or lathe, depending on design. There will be no welded parts.

4-You mentioned that you prefer a one part handle, but a quick attach/detach solution will require some extra small parts and more form complexity of the handle, is it okay to go with it?

One part main body handle with some detachable small items such as buttons, screws and hinges are acceptable. I just don&;t want two major pieces that will require assembly by the end consumer. End product should be "ready-to-go" once they open the box.
