About

A driven individual with a passion for product design and development, taking accountability at every stage of the process. Proficient in CAD (Inventor/Creo/SketchUp/SolidWorks/AutoCAD), 3D printing, laboratory/product testing, and data analytics. Strong presentation and interpersonal skills, having led and participated in multiple group projects, both academically during my ME in Mechanical Engineering at UCD, and professionally with Logitech and Entropic.

Experience

  • Junior Mechanical Engineer Entropic · Full-time May 2019 – Sep 2024 5 yrs 4 mos Maynooth, County Kildare, Ireland -Utilized AutoCAD and SketchUp (CAD) for parts to be manufactured, ensuring precision and efficiency.
-Through liaising with the clients, I designed and provided detailed quotations for HVAC systems based on their specifications, ensuring optimal performance and cost-effectiveness.
-Trained and mentored new employees, fostering skill development and ensuring adherence to company standards.
  • Mechanical Design Engineer Logitech · Full-time May 2022 – Jan 2023 8 mos Cork, CO, Ireland Part of a cross-functional seed team in spatial computing. Development of AR/VR consumer electronics.
CAD - Modelled concepts in Creo
Prototyping - Operated a range of 3D printers
    (Polyjet/FDM/SLA).
Instron Testing – Determining discrepancies in the output of
analogue switches vs measured input forces.
    Experimental & simulated (FEA) evaluation.
Presentations – On solutions, design sprints, weekly project
    updates, etc.

Education

  • Online Course Advanced Autodesk Inventor, : 3D Mechanical Design Surfacing; Part modelling; Assembly; Sheet metal 2023 – 2024
  • University College Dublin Masters in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering with Business Management, null 2021 – 2023 Activities and Societies: null
  • University College Dublin Bachelors of Science, Mechanical Engineering 2018 – 2021

Other experience

  • Projects undertaken while at Logitech: -Designed and modelled a part with an array of geometrically complex features in Creo. To test different additive manufacturing methods, primarily focusing on geometric tolerancing capabilities.
-Modelled and 3D printed a bracket mechanism to allow Logitech’s trackable stylus to attach to the MX3 mouse, which allowed their computer mouse to be visible while in virtual reality.
-Contributed to the team’s main problem of eliminating the hysteresis produced by the force sensitive primary button on their VR stylus. Achieve through vigorous testing to determine the root cause, redesigning the internal mechanisms and layout of the device, FEA analysis, prototyping, testing using an Instron machine, and iterating.
-Teardowns and reporting on competitor products, in order to discover and implement new methods and technologies.
-Various smaller projects within Logitech’s laboratory, involving laser cutter, environmental chamber tests, drop testing, and assemblies of various prototypes.
