About
My name is Jón Schone and I am passionate about engineering. I attended Precision engineering school when I was 15 and graduated at my 19th. This was quite young so I decided to continue studying for the bachelor of Mechanical engineering. After two years I started working at an electronics manufacturer and this went so well that I started the bachelor of Electronics alongside my daily work. I found out that I liked development a lot and started creating automated test systems with Agilent VEE and NI LabVIEW.
I am thrilled about the combination of software, electronical hardware and mechanical hardware. The possibilities are endless, especially today with rapid prototyping and the cheaper becoming hardware. I got this insight when I worked at Philips as a Test engineer at the Shaving development branch where I created several challenging test- and measurement systems at different places within the Drachten site. I came in touch with 3D printing and developed tooling for test systems.
I am in close contact with manufacturing suppliers, people on the work floor, SMT operators, electronics designers, test engineers and software engineers. The diversity of work activities I have done over the past years gives me a keen understanding of the manufacturing process.
