  • Product Designer 3 Bell Equipment Company SA · Feb 2009 – Present 16 yrs 3 mos Richards Bay, South Africa
    • Specialist level new product design and FEM analysis of major structural components, primary areas of responsibility: Main chassis, ROPS cab and a selection of sheet metal parts across the BELL earth moving equipment range.
    • Responsibilities also include; participate in the development of the engineering strategy, root-cause analysis on quality and reliability issues of high complexity/sensitivity, current product manufacturing support, mentor to junior staff members, CAD mentor specializing in ProE/Creo Simulate (with PTC Windchill) and Autodesk Inventor (With Autodesk Vault) and Fastener component category owner.
    • Most noteworthy project: I was the engineer responsible for the main chassis design and front end styling of the E-Series range ADT (From B20E to B60E). I have delivered a series of front chassis designs which have proven to exceed our durability goals while reducing mass and manufacturing complexity/costs.

    • Design, implementation, training and maintenance of 3D modelling, 2D drawing and data management practices, in the company's conversion from 2D AutoCAD to 3D Autodesk Inventor with data management in Autodesk Vault software.
    • Supervise CNC Plasma machine installation, training and maintenance.
    • Most noteworthy project: I was the lead engineer on Dezzi 3500 front end loader “clean sheet design”. I completed the driveline, hydraulics, kinematics and structures design from scratch delivering a “best in class” equivalent machine.
